Master Teacher! Whoa?
Updated: Aug 10, 2022
What I have learned…
I had the fortunate opportunity to attend Louisiana LCTCS Master Teacher Seminar. What is the number one thing I learned?
Here it is.
“We are our own worst enemies and often miss the greatness within ourselves. Each of us are amazing in our own ways. Let that greatness shine and be a constant learner.”
Through my years of teaching, these are some of the statements said about me:
“You changed my life because you told me about your childhood and how you fought to change the cycle. I changed the cycle because of you. Look where I am now!”
“You are the do everything guy.”
“You are so knowledgeable and funny.”
“You work all the time.”
“You are the one person I can count on.”
“I succeeded in this course because you believed in me.”
“You are the best teacher I ever had and would take every class you teach if I could.”
“You stand out each month on the work you do for your students, but I have to choose others who also do well. You are a shining light.”
“You have that passion, and I can see how much you really care about your students’ successes.”

We often don’t truly believe what is said about us, even when the same words are said time and time again.
Today that ends because I know I am valuable, knowledgeable, and genuine.
My inspiration came from my brilliant friend Carol’s African proverbs.
“Don’t set sail on someone else’s star.”
“Once you carry your own water, you’ll remember every drop.”
“Knowledge is a garden. If it’s not cultivated, it can’t be harvested.”
“Tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for today.”
“Examine what is said, not who is speaking.”
“You think education is expensive, try ignorance.”
“If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do no harm.”
Thank you, Master Teachers!
