Graduation- The One Day That Never Gets Old
No matter how long I teach, for me, it’s going on 25 years, graduation is always the best day of the year.
Why?
As an instructor, I feel full-filled. Full-filled that the lessons taught have prepared the graduates to go out in the world and make a difference.
Not all lessons are those that were taught through subject matter, though.
Some lessons learned were because maybe an assignment was late, and that one instructor understood and gave a second chance. Maybe confidence grew because someone special believed they could when they started giving up on themselves and their learning. Maybe it’s the abundance of sacrifices a student had to make to achieve that degree.
A Degree—That one accomplishment that no one can take away.
As teachers, we will never know the whole story of every student, but we can always be there…be there through tough times, discouraging times, cramming times, and satisfaction times.
Pure satisfaction is felt when the students complete the first step in reaching their goals and dreams. Some walk to that diploma with tears in their eyes but always with smiles on their faces because they have full-filled that first step in reaching their dreams.
To the graduating class of 2022, be great, be humble, make a difference, find your passion, and continue to chase those dreams!
Always remember, “Every adventure requires a first step.” You took that first step; now go out into the world and find your adventure!
